Vision & Mission
The Albany Gay Men’s Chorus uses the time-honored tradition of Tenor 1, Tenor 2, Baritone, Bass (TTBB) choral music to proudly represent, support, and promote our LGBTQIA+ community. We hope to achieve recognition as a talented and vibrant performing arts group that provides excellent musical experiences. We will entertain, enlighten, encourage, uplift and inspire our members, audience, friends, & allies.
History
The Albany Gay Men's Chorus began in 2008. The chorus was born as a program within the Pride Center of the Capital Region. Many of our founding members belonged to other choruses but dreamed of starting an LGBTQIA+ chorus dedicated to singing classical choral music as well as Broadway tunes, popular songs and fun novelty pieces in the time-honored Tenor 1, Tenor 2, Baritone & Bass (TTBB) tradition. AGMC became its own non-profit organization in 2012. As a 17-year-old chorus, 13 years on our own, we are proud to have grown to 40 members. We look forward to growing larger and getting more involved in our community. The chorus continues to grow in recognition and acclaim through our concerts, community performances and support of local LGBTQIA+, and LGBTQIA+ friendly organizations. AGMC donates 10% of the proceeds of our concerts to various non-profit organizations in the Capital Region of New York State.

The Pride Center of the Capital Region Aging with Pride program was the beneficiary of AGMC's 2024 Winter Concert. At their March monthly potluck we were able to present a check to Pride Center Executive Director Nathaniel Gray. Aging with Pride programing benefits LGBTQ+ folks 55+ and includes a monthly potluck on the first Sunday of the month, 1-3pm at First Presbyterian Church in Albany.
